HAUNTOLOGY is Monelise's audiovisual live show, originally created as part of her final project while studying for an MMus in Popular Music at Goldsmiths. It is also the title of her upcoming album, due Autumn 2019 and including all the material form the original live show re-worked for a record. Monelise will next showcase an enhanced version of her live show HAUNTOLOGY at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe-- the world's biggest arts festival-- in August 2019 (13th-17th). Some background....

The HAUNTOLOGY repertoire was inspired by the work of late cultural theorist Mark Fisher, who coined the term “hauntology” to denote the contemporary cultural phenomenon that is a peculiar, indescribable “longing for lost futures". This eerie, spectral sense of melancholy is what Monelise encapsulates in the musical repertoire of HAUNTOLOGY, which is a body of work at once strikingly original and evidently “haunted” by “spectres of the past”. These spectres come at times in the form of Chopin Nocturne samples, seamlessly integrated into original musical compositions, and at others through sampled opera records, where the voice of Enrico Caruso glides over Monelise's own in a unique meeting of past and present.
